Lapeer

Lapeer County, is located just north of Detroit, along the major east/west highway I-69 that easily connects Lapeer to Canada, Port Huron, Grand Rapids, Lansing, and Flint. You can also head south to Oakland County and cities to the north via M24, a major travel and business corridor that 25,000+ cars travel daily. Lapeer County is within 500 miles of one third of the U.S. population and is less than one hour from Ontario, Canada’s largest province. Lapeer County has over 12,000 acres of public recreation land, 159 lakes, and eight golf courses. It’s also a great place for winter sports and other outdoor activities. Lapeer County’s history includes lumbering as the main industry from the 1830s to 1870, and the Lapeer State Home and Training School, which was the area’s largest employer from 1895 to 1991.
